VOLUNTEER BUDDY READING

Get involved and make a difference

Promoting Children in Plymouth has identified a key barrier to children having the opportunity to become the best version of themselves…  We know that for some children the chance to read to an adult at home is not an option for a myriad of sometimes complex reasons.

"The little boy I’ve been helping actually told me last week he’d got a gold badge and certificate in assembly for his reading, I feel so proud of him"

Buddy Volunteer

In-person volunteering

Working closely with the Plymouth business community and the primary schools most in need of support, we have started creating teams of volunteers who can visit a school on a regular basis and simply offer the opportunity to children to practice their reading skills.  Many Plymouth Primary Schools welcomes this opportunity for their children.

"The children’s reading ability and confidence has grown and they now look forward to choosing more books from our library. "

Bookmark Buddy Reading

Virtual Volunteering

Bookmark focuses on children in disadvantaged communities, where their support is needed the most. Our initiatives are designed to make a significant difference in their lives. For just one hour a week you can become a reading buddy and change the life chances of a Plymouth child.

Reading is a Superpower and will most definitely improve a child’s future outcomes and offer an incredibly rewarding experience to every volunteer
